Successful Employment and Training Expos held in Cavan and Monaghan

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB), in partnership with The Local Enterprise Office (LEO), the Department of Social Protection (DSP), and Regional Skills, recently hosted two highly successful Employment and Training Expos in Hotel Kilmore in Cavan and in Monaghan Institute. The events attracted over 100 exhibitors and more than 650 attendees – combined.

The Expo events provided a unique opportunity for job seekers, recent graduates, leaving certificate students, and parents of school leavers to explore local job openings, apprenticeship programmes, and training opportunities – all under one roof.

CMETB showcased various apprenticeships and upskilling opportunities designed to enhance skills and boost employability.

Representatives from the local business community were present to share insights, answer questions, and discuss potential career paths with attendees.

The events also featured CMETB career guidance services, helping attendees chart their paths toward success.

The overwhelming response underscored the importance of such initiatives in supporting the local community’s employment and training needs.

Sinead McKenna, Training Services Manager at CMETB, expressed, “We are delighted with the turnout and the positive feedback from both employers and attendees. The Employment and Training Expos served as an invaluable platform for connecting job seekers with local employers and showcased the abundance of opportunities and educational pathways available in our region. Engaging with employers as key stakeholders is a crucial part of CMETB Further Education and Training strategy to support and develop the local workforce.”

Prior to the public expos CMETB held a briefing session for employers which provided valuable insights into new funding, training and employment supports that are available for local businesses in 2024.  The briefing served as an opportunity for companies to engage and network with key stakeholders including CMETB, Local Enterprise Office, Regional Skills, SOLAS and representatives from the Department of Social Protection.CMETB Expo
