Funding Approved for UBU Youth Service in Monaghan Town

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) has been approved for funding under the Department of Education and Youth’s expansion of UBU Your Place Your Space youth services.

Following CMETB’s submission to the national competition for the provision of a new UBU Your Place Your Space youth service for Monaghan Town, CMETB is pleased to confirm that funding has been approved by the Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee TD.

This announcement is part of an additional €1.2 million investment under Budget 2025, which will see 10 new UBU services established nationwide. The funding will support targeted, youth worker-led programmes for young people aged 10–24 who are experiencing disadvantage.

Minister for Education and Youth, Helen McEntee TD, said:

“Young people deserve the right supports and opportunities to reach their potential, no matter where they live. The UBU Your Place Your Space scheme has already made a real difference to communities across the country, and I am delighted that, with this additional investment, we can now expand its reach to more young people who need it most.”

Maureen McIntyre, Youth Development and Wellbeing Officer (CMETB), added:

” This is a hugely positive development for Monaghan Town. It means young people locally will have safe spaces and dedicated supports to help them feel connected, build confidence, and reach their potential. We are excited to work alongside young people and community partners to shape a service that truly reflects their needs.”

UBU Your Place Your Space is Ireland’s largest targeted youth programme, already reaching more than 68,000 young people annually through 249 services. The awarding of funding for Monaghan Town represents an important strengthening of youth provision in the region.
