
CMETB signs contract for major Beech Hill College extension
Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) is pleased to announce the signing of contracts for the construction of a major school expansion project at Beech Hill College, Monaghan. This milestone marks the beginning of an exciting development that will deliver a state-of-the-art extension for the school community.
The new facilities, which are funded by the Department of Education and Youth, will include six general classrooms, four SET rooms, a multimedia room, a construction room with a preparation area, two science laboratories with a preparation area, a three-classroom SEN base and a range of ancillary accommodation. The project represents a significant investment in the future of education in Monaghan and will provide modern, high-quality spaces to meet the needs of students and staff alike.
CMETB will oversee the delivery of the building works in partnership with the Department of Education and Youth and design teams. The contracts were officially signed on Wednesday, 17 September 2025, between CMETB and the appointed contractor, Rodney Brady Contracting Ltd. The signing was witnessed by Cllr. Aidan Campbell, Chairperson of the Beech Hill College Board of Management.
Speaking at the signing, CMETB Chief Executive, Dr Fiona McGrath said: “We are delighted to reach this important stage in the journey to expand Beech Hill College. This project reflects CMETB’s commitment to providing first-class educational facilities and supporting the continued growth of vibrant school communities across our region. Most importantly, it is about ensuring that every pupil has the opportunity to thrive and fulfil their potential in a supportive learning environment.”
Siobhan Sheerin (Acting Principal, Beech Hill College) added:
“This extension marks an exciting new chapter for our entire school community. It will enable us to cater for the growing needs of our students and staff while continuing to provide an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment for teaching and learning. Beech Hill College has always been proud to serve the community of Monaghan, and these new fantastic facilities will help us build on that tradition for many years to come.”
The project will now move into the construction phase, with works beginning immediately.
