CMETB Youth Services administer funding to benefit local youth groups in Cavan and Monaghan

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) Youth Services recently held a presentation night allocating funding of approx. €80,000 to support local youth groups across Cavan and Monaghan.

This funding stream will support youth work activities for young people in Cavan and Monaghan and promote youth opportunity, engagement and inclusion at a local level. The allocation of these grants will provide vital support to the volunteer-led youth groups in the Cavan and Monaghan region and will aid in the advancement and rollout of their local programme provision.

CMETB administers this funding scheme on behalf of Minister Roderic O’Gorman and the Department for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth.

At the event, CMETB acknowledged and thanked the Minister’s department for their continued commitment and support to the Volunteer Youth Work Sector throughout the country.

Dr Fiona McGrath, Chief Executive, CMETB said:

The Local Youth Club Grant Scheme plays a crucial role in enabling opportunities for our young people. It is much more than funding; it’s an investment in connection, growth, and community engagement for our youth. For many young people, these clubs are not just extracurricular spaces, they are lifelines for development, friendships, and confidence-building.

In today’s ever-changing world, young people face new and complex challenges. That’s why the role of youth work is more important than ever. This funding helps create positive pathways for development and equips young people with the tools they need to navigate life.

The recipients of the 2025 Local Youth Club Grant Scheme represent a wide variety of focus areas and communities across Cavan and Monaghan.
