CMETB and NCSE to host Information Evening for Monaghan Community Special School
Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) are delighted to announce the establishment of a new special school in Castleblayney opening in September 2025. This school will provide high-quality education and support for children aged 4 –18 with special educational needs in the Monaghan area.
Building plans for the new school are at an advanced stage, with significant progress being made to ensure an appropriate, inclusive learning environment. At the same time, policies and procedures are being carefully developed in consultation with the National Council for Special Education (NCSE) and parents to ensure the best possible placements and support services for students.
Applications for student enrolment will open soon. In preparation for the school’s launch, CMETB is now accepting applications for the position of Principal Teacher, with recruitment for Deputy Principal, Teachers, Special Needs Assistants (SNAs), Escorts, and other key personnel to follow in the coming weeks.
To support parents, an Information Evening will take place on March 4th at Monaghan Education Centre. This event will provide families with an opportunity to learn more about the school’s offerings, meet key representatives, and ask questions about the enrolment process.
A dedicated school webpage will go live soon, providing up-to-date information on enrolment, staffing, and the school’s services. CMETB has extensive experience in special education, with several special classes across its schools and a strong commitment to staff training and development.
This new school represents an important step in expanding access to inclusive, high-quality education for children with additional needs.
