Funding Announcement: Mitigating Against Educational Disadvantage Fund (MAEDF) / Community Education Grants

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) is delighted to announce that following the success of projects funded through the Mitigating against Educational Disadvantage Fund (MAEDF) in 2020 & 2021, CMETB has received an additional allocation for 2022.

Administered locally by CMETB on behalf of SOLAS, this fund is designed to increase the capacity of community and youth education providers to address the decline in participation of disadvantaged learners.   The fund places a strong focus on community education as a mechanism to continue to support and engage with disadvantaged learners. In addition, there is a focus on enabling the investment in building the digital infrastructure of providers and their capability to ensure that online learning/blended learning can be delivered in a way that meets the complex needs of learners.

If your group currently runs courses but struggle to do so due to lack of equipment/resources etc, this funding stream can help you address this.

Your application must fall under one or more of the following measures and must have an educational focus:

  1. Digital Technologies
  2. Learners Assistance Fund
  3. Reach Out/Mentoring
  4. COVID-19 Exceptional Circumstances

In addition, for community groups considering small funding applications (€1000 or less), CMETB invites applications to the annual Community Education Grant Scheme.  These grants provide support in the form of financial assistance to community and voluntary groups wishing to run  educational/training programmes in their own locality. You can apply for grants for a broad range of learning activities from First Aid to Art etc. The grant can assist your group in covering the cost of tuition and learning materials.  Payment is made retrospectively upon receipt of invoices etc.
