CMETB Statement – Sean Smith RIP

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) are deeply saddened by news of the death of our esteemed board member Sean Smith.

Councillor Smith served on the board of CMETB since 2019.  As a hardworking and committed public representative, he gave incredible service to his community and was passionate about supporting education.

Dr Fiona McGrath (Chief Executive, CMETB) said:

“We are greatly saddened to hear of the death of Sean Smith. I offer my deepest condolences to Sean’s family; wife Ann, daughters Eimear and Áine, sons Conor and Kilian, brothers and sister, his wider family, friends and colleagues. Sean was a dedicated member of the ETB board and also served on Boards of Management at St Mogue’s College, Bawnboy and St Bricin’s College, Belturbet. Sean cared deeply for the community he represented and his passion for education and supporting young people was inspirational. Sean will be sorely missed as a member of our Board.”
