Learner Support – Disability
If you have a disability, health condition, or learning difficulty, we’re here to help you. For example, if you have a
- Physical or sensory disability
- Specific learning difficulty (e.g., dyslexia, dyspraxia)
- Mental health condition
- Autism spectrum condition
- Ongoing medical condition
We can put Reasonable Accommodations in place to support you achieve success on your course.
Reasonable accommodations can include any of the following:
- modified presentation of assignments/examination papers, for example,
- scribes or readers.
- Notetakers or Personal Assistants
- Sign Language
- rest
- adaptive equipment or software.
- use of assistive
- additional time for assessment.
- separate room or space for assessment.
Reasonable Accommodations are determined on a case-by-case basis through a Needs Assessment. This is carried out by a nominated staff member in the FET service. A needs assessment takes into account the nature of your disability, course requirements, and individual differences. The agreed Reasonable Accommodations are reported in the Learning Educational Needs Summary (LENS).
It is important that you disclose your disability in good time so that we can arrange supports for you prior to commencing your course.
