Students Explore Future Pathways at CMETB Careers Fair 2025
Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) hosted its annual Careers Fair 2025 on Tuesday, 07 October, at The Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan, welcoming over 1,500 students from across Cavan and Monaghan schools for a day filled with inspiration, opportunity, and future planning.
Building on the incredible success of last year’s event, which featured more than 50 exhibitors, this year’s fair exceeded expectations, offering students access to an even broader range of career, education, and training pathways. The event provided a valuable platform for young people to explore academic, vocational and apprenticeship opportunities, empowering them to make informed decisions about their next steps.
Students had the opportunity to meet and engage directly with representatives from top Irish and UK universities, Technological Universities, Institutes of Technology, Further Education Colleges, Apprenticeship and Traineeship programmes, and many more.
A wide range of leading education providers and training organisations also participated, ensuring that every student could find a pathway suited to their interests and ambitions. Among the exhibitors were Trinity College, UCD, NUI Galway, Queen’s University Belfast, Monaghan Institute, Cavan Institute, and DKIT, as well as UK-based institutions including Glasgow Caledonian University, Wrexham University, and the University of Bedfordshire. Other organisations offering career pathways included the National Ambulance Service, An Garda Síochána, and the HSE.
For the first time, the CMETB Careers Fair extended invitations to non-ETB schools across Cavan, further broadening the event’s reach and impact within the wider community.
Paddy Flood, Director of Schools at CMETB, commented:
“The CMETB Careers Fair is a key event in our calendar, giving students the opportunity to engage directly with education and industry representatives. It’s about empowering them to make informed choices and helping them take confident steps towards their future careers.”
The Careers Fair highlights CMETB’s ongoing commitment to guiding students toward meaningful education, training, and employment pathways that align with their goals and ambitions.
