CMETB continues commitment to National Summer Meals Programme

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board is continuing its commitment to the National Summer Meals Programme following the launch of the Summer Meals 2026 Initiative by the Minister for Education and Youth at the recent Youth Work Matters Conference in Cork.

Attending the conference on behalf of CMETB, Maureen McIntyre, Youth Development and Wellbeing Officer, joined youth sector representatives from across the country to discuss the important role youth work plays in supporting young people and strengthening communities. The event was also attended by two Ministers of State, highlighting the value of youth work at both local and national level.

As part of the national programme, CMETB will coordinate the delivery of 3,901 meals to young people across nine locations in Cavan and Monaghan over a twelve-week period during the summer months.

The initiative will be delivered in partnership with Youth Work Ireland Cavan and Monaghan, Foróige and the ISPCC, helping to ensure young people can access nutritious meals while remaining connected to local youth services.

Commenting on the programme, Maureen McIntyre said: “The Summer Meals Programme provides practical support to young people and families during the summer months while also promoting wellbeing through local youth services. Working with our youth work partners, we can help ensure young people remain supported and engaged in their communities.”

The programme reflects CMETB’s ongoing work with local partners to support the wellbeing, inclusion and positive development of young people across Cavan and Monaghan, ensuring they have access to essential supports throughout the summer months.
