CMETB Employment and Training Expo at Monaghan Institute sees strong turnout

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB), in partnership with the Local Enterprise Office (LEO), the Department of Social Protection (DSP) and Regional Skills, welcomed a strong turnout at its Employment and Training Expo, held at Monaghan Institute on Thursday, 28 May 2026.

The event attracted a broad audience including Leaving Certificate students, graduates, jobseekers, parents and those considering new career paths or upskilling opportunities. Attendees engaged directly with a wide range of employers and training providers, gaining insight into current vacancies, future skills needs and progression pathways.

Exhibitors from across Monaghan and the surrounding region represented a diverse mix of sectors, including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, engineering, retail and the public service. The event provided a valuable platform for local businesses to connect with potential employees, while attendees benefited from practical advice and meaningful conversations about their next steps.

CMETB staff were also on hand to provide information on Further Education and Training options, including apprenticeships and flexible upskilling opportunities available locally.

Eileen Roddy, Workforce Development Officer at CMETB, said: “We are very pleased with the success of our Employment and Training Expo. The level of engagement from both employers and attendees was extremely positive, and it highlighted the breadth of opportunities available within Monaghan and the surrounding region. There is a strong base of local employers across a range of sectors who are actively recruiting and investing in skills, and events like this are important in helping people to connect with those opportunities, understand what is required and take the next step with confidence”

The Monaghan event follows on from the successful Cavan Expo held in March and continues CMETB’s commitment to supporting local employment, skills development and access to lifelong learning opportunities across the region.
