Progress for Gaelscoil Eois in Clones

Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board (CMETB) and Broomfield Construction, last week, officially signed project contracts in the presence of Gaelscoil Eois principal, Laura Nic Grianna and Board of Management representatives, marking a significant milestone for the construction of the new school in Clones.

The partnership between CMETB and Broomfield Construction outlines the delivery of the long-awaited development at Gaelscoil Eois. The project consists of the demolition of the existing school building and construction of an eight-classroom primary school with two special education teaching rooms, new staff room, storage facilities, toilets, a multi-purpose room and a resource room. The new school will also have a connected PE Hall, with a ballcourt and junior play area.

Laura Nic Grianna, (Principal Gaelscoil Eois) expressed her delight about the progress, stating, “We are truly delighted to see the project moving forward. This is a significant milestone for our school and means a great deal to our pupils, parents, staff and the wider community, as the new school building will provide modern and innovative learning environments to meet the needs of our school community.”

Brendan Ó Dufaigh (Chairperson, Gaelscoil Eois Board of Management) said: “Today represents a key milestone for Gaelscoil Eois. I am delighted to see this project progress to the construction stage with the signing of contracts today. It is great news for the Clones community and for the development of the Irish language in the area. The new school building will support the community and foster growth of the Irish language through quality education.”

Dr Fiona McGrath (Chief Executive, Cavan and Monaghan ETB) said; “Moving to the next stage of the project is fantastic news for Gaelscoil Eois and Clones Town. As the ETB (Education and Training Board) for the Cavan/Monaghan region, our work in this project allows us to work closely with Gaelscoil Eois to deliver facilitates to support the excellent teaching and learning occurring at the school. It also aligns with CMETB’s ambition of delivering world-class education facilities for the Cavan-Monaghan region. I look forward to seeing the project progress.”

The delivery of the building project is entrusted to Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board who have significant experience in delivering building projects for schools across the region. Broomfield Construction, based in Monaghan, bring their multi-disciplined contractor expertise to ensure the successful completion of Gaelscoil Eois. Broomfield Construction have a rich experience in the development of schools, community centres, resource centres and medical centres for both government and private bodies.

The signing of the project contracts reaffirms CMETB’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure and learning environments in the region. Following the signing of the project contracts, Broomfield Construction will now commence work on-site at Gaelscoil Eois, bringing the highly anticipated project to life.
